PG&E Emergency Preparedness Mobile Application

During the course of 2012 and early 2013, the IT Gas Technology Team and the Gas Line of Business have been working closely to improve PG&E's ability to have Emergency Response information readily available with the development of the Emergency Preparedness Mobile Application (EPMA). The EPMA project took the Gas Emergency Response Plan (GERP), which is currently distributed in oversized binders, and placed it into a mobile application that can be easily accessed. This application also includes a variety of training aids, a mobile version of the Incident Action Plan (IAP) and access to information sources that are used to better prepare and respond to gas emergencies. The benefit of this project is our ability to update this information quickly, which was not previously possible. The new mobile capabilities provided by this project demonstrate how PG&E is expanding into the mobile market, as we are currently utilizing the iOS operating system on both iPhones and iPads. The great collaboration and team work between IT Gas Technology, the Gas Line of Business and our vendors The John Webster Company and Contingency Management Consulting Group made this project possible.
