York Habitat for Humanity

York Habitat for Humanity was faced with a problem shared by many non-profits, trying to leverage the internet for the betterment of the organization. They were using multiple paid services to manage various aspects of the organization. These individual services were nickel and diming the organization on a monthly basis. To simplify systems and save money, Gary Zimmerman of CSH consulting approached us about partnering to provide a WordPress website with CiviCRM to York Habitat for Humanity.

Our company created a number of custom extensions for CiviCRM. The most complicated extension mimicked the functionality of VolunteerHub – online volunteer management service. In addition to extending CiviCRM, we also created custom objects for Visual Composer, reorganized the website structure and gave the website a mobile responsive design.

Currently the new website is able to perform the following functions inside WordPress:

• Volunteer Management
• Event Management
• Online Donations
• Email Marketing
• Project Showcase
• News and Newsletter

We would love to say the process was smooth and without trials but that simply was not the case. During the process we worked as a team to adapt off-the-shelf- software to a work flow that was specific to a construction orientated non-profit. Through many cups of coffee and a few handfulls of hair pulled out, we ended up with a product I am proud to show off.

Contact us if you have a non-profit that would like to see how a successful implementation of CiviCRM can help leverage the power of the internet.
